What have we become as a society that requires everything to be spelled out in exacting detail so that everyone understands every piece of minutia that exists? I truely believe we have lost/are losing the art of subtlety. Why must we all have an explicit description of the intracacies of life? Maybe it’s enough to leave things up in the air a bit. Get people thinking instead of digesting.
A writer tells a story. His story. Develops the characters, evolves a plot-line, reaches a conclusion (or not) and writes an ending. Maybe it’s not the ending everyone (or anyone) wants, but it is his, first and foremost. I, for one, give David Chase the benefit of the doubt in return for 86 hours of thought provoking, sometimes mindless, entertainment. Maybe a few more should as well.
